What is STEM Club?
Purpose: The goal of the STEM club will be to come up with a solution to a real world problem. The students will use science processing skills while experimenting and analyzing data. They will work in teams and use the engineering design process to design and improve a prototype to solve each problem. Each STEM challenge will be based off of 6th grade science standards and will require students to extend their knowledge of certain skills.
Who: any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student who is interested.
Details: The STEM club will meet roughly every other Wednesday after school until 3:30. They will work on one challenge each nine weeks. (Schedule and Dates to follow)
Membership: Students do not have to participate in each challenge to be part of the STEM club. I understand students are busy different times throughout the year. If they choose to participate in a challenge, I ask that they are present every day of that challenge. The students will be working on their own and with a team, so they must be present to work with their team.
Materials/Cost: There will be a small fee per challenge. You may pay up front for all of them you are interested in, or pay as you go. The cost covers materials and supplies that will need to be used during the challenge.
Schedule: Each date listed will be after school until 3:30 in room 610. Please pick up outside door 20. I also have the cost of each activity per child. Please decide which challenges your child would like to participate in and include the total with the form below. Dates are subject to change and will be updated through REMIND/CANVAS.Meeting Dates and Cost
