In-person instruction resumes Monday, November 30
Sue Scott

The TSC is looking forward to having students return to school for in-person instruction Monday, November 30. During the shift to remote learning, the Greater Lafayette community answered our call for assistance and our staffing levels look good. In addition, the TSC has implemented several new strategies to help address the staffing shortage.

  • Expedited the hiring process for substitute teachers by working with our staffing partner ESS. As a result, we have hired 36 additional substitute teachers
  • Opened up employment opportunities for current staff to work in multiple positions and have had great interest from staff in filling additional positions
  • Waived the standard background check fee ($24.90) for all applicants until Dec. 31, 2020
  • Hired 37 additional personnel in areas such as transportation, aide/aide subs, health service personnel, custodial and food service since Nov. 1

As holiday and travel seasons are upon us, please keep the safety of our students and staff at the forefront of your decision making. Every extra precaution to stop the spread while not in school is critical for our in-person instructional time. Also, please continue communicating information about positive tests and isolation/quarantine periods to the TSC COVID Coordinator Krystal Zahn, tsccovid@tsc.k12.in.us, as information becomes available. This allows us to maintain a safe learning environment for our staff and students.

With guidance from state and local health officials and the community’s commitment to work together, we will provide in-person instruction for the next three weeks to successfully complete our first semester of the 2020-21 school year.
