TSC superintendent earns state honors

The Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents has named TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback the 2026 Indiana Superintendent of the Year.

Hanback has led TSC since 2008, guiding one of the largest and fastest-growing school districts in the state. TSC serves nearly 14,000 students across 437 square miles in Tippecanoe County.

Hanback leads with three principles: advocating for priorities that matter most to students and staff, adapting quickly to changing needs, and aligning district goals with the power of community partnerships. This approach has led to initiatives such as the Greater Lafayette Career Academy, Tippecanoe Online Academy, SEEDS new teacher mentorship program, and Instructional Improvement Block, which provides daily professional development for staff.

“I am truly honored and humbled to be recognized as the 2026 Indiana Superintendent of the Year,” Hanback says. “This recognition reflects the incredible work of our teachers, staff, administrators and school board members, as well as the unwavering support of our parents and community partners. Together, we are creating opportunities for students to thrive today and into the future.”

Hanback’s leadership extends beyond TSC. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of AASA, The School Superintendents Association and is Chairman of the Ivy Tech Community College Regional Board of Trustees. Locally, he has been involved with Greater Lafayette Commerce, the YMCA, the Public Schools Foundation of Tippecanoe County and the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette.

Hanback will represent Indiana in the national Superintendent of the Year competition, sponsored by AASA, The School Superintendents Association.
