Wea Ridge Middle School has proudly earned the title of the top fundraising middle school in the state of Indiana for the American Heart Association (AHA), showcasing the power of community, commitment and heart. This incredible achievement reflects the dedication of students, staff and families who came together for a cause that saves lives.
The school’s fundraising efforts were part of the AHA’s nationwide initiative that educates students on the importance of heart health while raising funds to fight heart disease and stroke. Through various activities, students at Wea Ridge engaged in heart-healthy habits while rallying their community for donations.
Students worked tirelessly over several weeks, reaching out to friends, family and local businesses for support. At the end of the campaign, Wea Ridge Middle School raised more than any other middle school in the state. These funds will support research, community programs and advocacy efforts to combat heart disease—the leading cause of death worldwide.
“This effort is about more than just raising money; it's about teaching our students the value of health, community and giving back,” says Principal Fred Roop. “The fundraising efforts were supported by an educational program that taught students about the importance of cardiovascular health, the risks of heart disease and ways to lead a healthier lifestyle. The American Heart Association also provided resources to help students understand how their efforts directly impact people in need.”
