The SIA Foundation awarded grants this spring to several Indiana nonprofit organizations including one to Wea Ridge Middle School.
Wea Ridge Middle School received $9,112 to purchase five hydration stations. Principal Fred Roop says the water bottle refilling stations are a way to incorporate the principles of the TSC INtegrate wellness program into the school environment.
“We have focused on daily practices that can make us healthier mentally and physically,” says Roop. “Health classes have focused on the health benefits of staying hydrated and drinking the recommended daily amount of water. We see this as another opportunity to take classroom teaching on healthy lifestyles and put it into action in our building.”
The hydration stations will be installed before students return in August.
